Iran is trying to provoke a Russia-US hot war in Syria

In Syria, an ancient game is being played - with people, countries and strategic goals as pawns.

Published on April 13, 2017 by Mark

When you boil Syria down to its principal players, there are only three: Russia, the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.  With Assad’s chemical attack, people have been misdirected from the reality by blaming the powerless Assad.  But Assad doesn’t mvoe without direct Iranian permission.  So, the real question is why did Iran launch a chemical weapons attack?

The answer is simple: Iran desperately needs Russia and the United States to get into a hot war in Syria so as to enable Iran to pick up the shattered pieces.  In contrast, the United States and Russia desperately need each other to defeat Iran’s waxing neo-Safavidic Empire from stretching from Iran to the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

In order to see why Iran is attempting to foment a Russia/US battle, one has to boil the Syrian theater into the child’s hand-against-hand game of ROCK/PAPER/SCISSORS-shoot.  When one child flashes PAPER against the other child’s ROCK, the “paper” envelops and beats the rock. When one child flashes PAPER against the other child’s SCISSORS, the scissors cuts and beats the paper.  When one child flashes SCISSORS against the other child’s ROCK the rock smashes and beats the scissors.

Russia is the “rock,” Iran is the “paper,” and the United States is the “scissors.”

Iran’s strategy is to envelope Syria like a piece of paper, topologically combining Iran’s Iraqi “paper,” along with Iran’s Hezbollah/Lebanon “paper” to form a patchwork-quilt Shiite Empire spanning from Iran/Persia through Iraq, and Syria, and Lebanon into the Mediterranean Sea. As an example of this, Iran just announced it was to build a trans-Iran/Iraq/Syria/Lebanon railroad.  Russia is the “rock” trying to bash the Sunni opposition to pieces in order to carve-out its eastern Mediterranean naval outpost and military enclave.  The United States, through Sec of Def Mattis, under the strategic cover of defeating ISIS in Eastern Syria is the “scissors” against Iran’s “paper” Shiite Empire.  The United States with its indigenous allies is trying to efficiently occupy eastern Syria from the Kurds in the north to Jordan in the south.  By topologically “cutting” off Iran’s patchwork piece of paper, Iraq, from Iran’s patchwork piece of paper, Syria, the United States is attempting to defeat Iran’s waxing paper Shiite Imanate.

Before Iran’s chemical attack in the name of Assad, the western Syrian rock strategy of Russia, and the eastern scissors strategy of the United States were avoiding each other, complementing each other, and together quietly weakening the whole Syrian paper envelopment strategy of Iran.  This was great for Russia and the US, but bad for Iran.  Iran saw the United States’ cutting its patchwork-quilt in two in eastern Syria as an existential threat to the grand strategic arc of its contiguous Mesopotamian/Levantian/Mediterranean swatch of Empire.  Therefore, Iran had to do something to instigate a hot war between the United States and Russia.  And presto, Iran bombs civilians with Sarin using Assad’s planes, Assad takes the fall, and Russia and the United States are escalating against each other.

Russia and the United States urgently need each other to thwart Iran’s scheme to control the Middle East.  It is in both Russia’s and United States’ worst strategic interests to allow Iran to become the colossus of the Middle East.  Syria is big enough for Russia and the United States to find a modus vivendi and  live with each other, allowing each to achieve strategic goals.  Russia and the United States have a mutually exact goal i- both aim to defeat the ISIS Sunni Caliphate and the Iranian Shiite Imanate. To defeat both Islamic radical terror threats requires Russia and the United States to work together, and not fight each other.  In the current war against both Sunni and Shiite radical Islamic terror, the United States and Russia are critically necessary for one another as allies, not inimical enemies.

The chemical weapons attack allows Putin to abandon Assad and Iran

The sarin gas attack may be just the excuse Putin needs to end a no-win situation while keeping the Tartus port.

Published on April 9, 2017 by Mark

Putin is drowning in Syria. Putin currently has no Syrian exit strategy, none at all. At $50 a barrel, Putin’s cash-flow approaches zero, and his sanctioned economy is dead in the water. Even though Putin’s sure to win his 2018 rigged-election, he still wants out of Syria before he has to campaign in earnest.

In addition, 80% of the world’s Muslims are Sunni and Putin is siding with Shiite Iran and Shiite/Alawite Assad to commit genocide on Sunnis. That is definitely not good. Close to 100% of the Muslims living in and near Russia are Sunni.

Putin needs a Syrian exit strategy, and needs one fast. With Assad’s Idlib Sarin nerve gas massacre, the opportunity exists for Putin to make a deal with President Trump to abandon Iran and Assad, but keep his naval base at Tartus.

The deal is simple. More importantly, as a preface and taking a step back, NATO, Russia and the United States actually have a common enemy: Radical Islamic Terror. They are all on the same team.

The broad outline of the deal is this: Russia abandons Assad and Iran in Syria in return for keeping Tartus and pocketing the ethnically Russian-speaking areas of Eastern Ukraine and Crimea, but Russia allows Western Ukraine to join NATO. As an immediate pre-deal, the Minsk Agreement is implemented, and there is a pull-back from the Minsk Line by both parties.

As an additional element, the West has to initiate a complete review of the entire Kosovo/Serbia problem. For in many ways, former-President Clinton began this entire pro-Muslim empowerment and armament. The global pro-Muslim empowerment has to stop.

With Russia and the United States working together, they can evict Iranian militias including Hezbollah and insert a moderate Muslim Syrian government that will satisfy all the neighboring Sunni Muslim countries. With Putin and Trump working together on Syria, both will get a Nobel Prize. Russia’s involvement with Assad’s and Iran’s genocide wil be forgotten.

Putin and the United States have an opportunity to close a grand deal, greatly benefitting both. And if Putin and Trump make a deal, the entire world will be a much safer place – without the genocidal hegemonic Assad and his Iranian masters.

59 tons against Iran and North Korea

The world has changed overnight.

Published on April 7, 2017 by Mark

Tonight President Trump delivered 59 Tomahawks holding one ton of explosives each directly against the Shiite/Aliwite Bashar al-Assad.  Critically, President Trump gave the real message to the evil Iranians and the lunatic North Korean dictator.  It is a tragedy that  it is  6 years too late, that it needed elections for a new leader, President Trump, to make good on Iranian-stooge former-President Obama’s red-line.  We have now entered a new age where Iran will be defeated and defeated badly, and North Korea will realize its time is up.

President Trump is all action and no talk.  President Trump is the anti-Obama.  Obama was held hostage to some unknown hold on him by Iran either from his Hyde Park Fraud deal with Rezco, or some imagined “legacy” of an Iranian deal.  President Trump is clearly not beholden to anyone or anything.  He is going to act and act boldly.

President Trump is not a “to-be-or-not-to-be” President. This is a President who may just save the United States and save the world from evil. Share on X

The anti-Iranian Judeo-Sunni Coalition against the Iranian evil was born today.  The 59 missiles were the American signature on the dotted line of the Middle East’s future, including Israel as its cornerstone.  The Trump attack showed that the United States will stand behind a complete roll-back of the Iranian cancer that Obama allowed to metastasize throughout the Middle East and beyond.

Third, Bashar al-Assad is dead-man walking.  The Alawite generals around him now understand that if they don’t liquidate Assad themselves, and engineer a soft-landing of Syria to save an Alawite safe-zone, there will be the hard-landing of Assad’s liquidation and the Alawite sect will be wiped off the face of the earth.  If the Alawite and Russian generals continue their chlorine barrel-bombs, they will be met with hundreds of Tomahawk missiles, denuding them of any ability to control the Syrian battle-space.

Russian’s Putin, and China are now on notice regarding their respective pet-genocidal al-Assad and Kim Jong-un.  Putin and China had better control those psycho-pathological lunatics, or Trump will control them with raw brutal focused military action.  Russia and China will realize that escalation with Trump to protect petty dictators will lead to catastrophic consequences for their own countries.

The Islamic oppositional rebel groups in Syria now have a decision to make on whether they stay an Islamic crazy force, or renounce Islamic craziness and focus on becoming non-Islamic statesmen.  With Obama’s betrayal of the Sunnis, the Syrian Sunni opposition was left with only the radical Islamic card.  With Trump’s Tomahawk strike, he has given the Syrian Sunnis hope that they can find salvation in President Trump and not in Allah.

In short, overnight we have entered a Trump world. Perhaps there can truly be peace in our time.

How to get 1 million more terrorists into the Palestinian Authority

Imagine re-invading a PA 'West Bank' with 1 million more armed terrorists. LOL

Published on April 3, 2017 by Mark

When the Oslo Accords were signed, everyone heard Rabin, Peres, and their coterie of messianic left-wing generals say:  If anything goes wrong in Judea and  Samaria, we’ll go back in and wipe them out. Ariel Sharon did go back into Judea and Samaria and saw to it that  the IDF took back security control of the cities there after the Park Hotel Passover Seder massacre – sadly, over a thousand Israelis had been murdered by then –  but then, a short while later, Sharon said the same about Gaza.

Well, it didn’t turn out that way.  Instead, Gaza turned into a terrorist cancer firing tens of thousands of rockets into Israel, and there was no Israeli reinvasion, just operations to try to stop the rockets..  That’s because Gaza only really threatens the relatively poor Israelis and sparse kibbutzim around Gaza, not the immensely rich and powerful Tel Aviv elites.  The Gaza Belt Jews are Israel’s expendables.  But the same way Fatah and Hamas easily smuggled in parts and manufactured the rockets in Gaza, they will smuggle in and manufacture weapons in a demilitarized Palestinian Arab ‘West Bank State’.

And when those rockets lay waste to Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Airport, there will be an Israeli reinvasion.  The problem is that by the time there is an Israeli ‘West Bank’ reinvasion, there will be another million or more armed Palestinians.  In short, the 2-state solution makes the Palestinian demographic problem infinitely worse.

If you thought that the “Palestinian demographic problem” was a left-wing nuclear argument, you could not be more wrong.  The Palestinian demographic problem is actually a right-wing argument that the Israeli right-wing simply never understood how to use.  The “demographic problem” has always been a left-wing hammer that the left-wing would swing when they didn’t have an answer for the fact that unlike the Israeli sparsely populated farmland around the Gaza Strip,  small terrorist rockets from Judea and Samaria will pummel the densely populated Tel Aviv-Netanya corridor where 70% of Israel’s Jewish population resides.

Were a Katyusha rocket to be fired into Montana, nobody would get hurt.  But if the same rocket were fired into Manhattan from Brooklyn, many deaths would be guaranteed, and Manhattan would be paralyzed.  Likewise, a Palestinian Arab ‘West Bank’rocket barrage into Tel Aviv would necessitate a full Israel re-invasion of the Palestinian Authority.

The problem is, if a ‘West Bank State’ is created, or even if substantial contiguous pockets of Palestinian Arab control are really created, and the PA is granted the sovereign right to import population, the PA would clearly be able to bring many of the so-called 8,000,000 Palestinian refugees into its state.  And the Palestinian Arabs can invite anyone else they want into their state, including thousands of Hezbollah and tens of thousands of Iranian volunteers for Palestine.

So, at some future time Israel will most assuredly have to reinvade that Palestinian ‘West Bank State,’  There won’t be just the growth of the baseline Palestinian population to observe.  At that point in the future, the area will hold not only the baseline Palestinian population extant when Israel retreated, but also all the extra additional terrorist population that the government of Palestine invites in.  And, guess what else?  They will all be armed to the teeth with every manner of small easily smuggle-ready weapons such as anti-tank weapons, and IEDs.

So, every one must understand that the messianic leftist-generals are perpetrating a fraud on the Israeli public when they claim the “demographic argument” necessitates a 2-state solution.  Just the opposite, it requires Israel to never give another inch of land on which the Iranian cancer can grow and threaten the 6 million Jews of Israel with another Holocaust.

Defense Secretary Mattis is Cutting the Syrian Gordian Knot

In 333 B.C.E., while wintering in the lands of Phrygian, Alexander the Great was confronted by the Gordian Knot, a supposedly unsolvable knot puzzle.  Various legends abound.  But, the most dramatic story is that Alexander simply took out his sword and cut the Gordian Knot, thereby “solving” the otherwise unsolvable puzzle.

Today, the US Secretary of Defense under the command of President Trump is on his way to cutting the Gordian Knot of Syria.  The vague outlines of SecDef Mattis’ strategy are apparent. Critically, it is clear Sec Def Mattis is not only on his way to solving the Syrian conundrum, but is setting the structural foundation for a Pan-Sunni/Israeli/Kurdish regional mutual defense against Iran.

Firstly, the opening reference to Alexander the Great is not merely a rhetorical flourish.  SecDef Mattis is a student of military history.  Then, Gen. Mattis was quoted in a letter stating: “For all the “4th Generation of War” intellectuals running around today saying that the nature of war has fundamentally changed, the tactics are wholly new, etc, I must respectfully say … “Not really”: Alex the Great would not be in the least bit perplexed by the enemy that we face right now in Iraq, and our leaders going into this fight do their troops a disservice by not studying (studying, vice just reading) the men who have gone before us.”

In the 300’s B.C.E., Alexander the Great’s only job was to defeat the Persian Empire.  In 2017, SecDef Mattis main job is to defeat the waxing Neo-Persian Iranian Empire.

But Didn’t Obama try to defeat ISIS? There is a critical difference between the Obama Regime’s Syria approach, and the Trump Administration’s Syria approach.  Obama talked the Sunni talk, but walked the Iranian Shiite walk. That insured ISIS would grow rather than wither. Obama never wanted Iran to lose Syria for all his anti-Assad bluster.  In fact, just the opposite, the anti-British Colonialist Obama wanted Iran to conquer the Sunni oil states and create the United Islamic States of Persia as a world superpower rivaling the United States itself.

In contrast, Trump really wants Iran defeated, and understands Syria is where their dreams of absolute Persian hegemony over the Arabs and their oil can be defeated. AKA, with Trump, the gloves are off when it comes to defeating Iran, and defeating it badly.  Militarily, ISIS is really the easy problem.  It’s Iran that’s the more difficult strategic puzzle to solve.

All of this brings us back to Syria.  Alleged pundits such as Sen. McCain should just be quiet and let SecDef Mattis and Central Command have some elbow room.  McCain’s recent statement about Trump’s Syria policy that “Unless something changes, I foresee a train wreck here, and I’m not sure that the administration recognizes how seriously, particularly, [Turkish] President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan views the threat that the Kurds pose.”

Come on Sen. McCain, SecDef Mattis doesn’t know about Turkish-Kurdish tensions??  Of course he understands the problems.  Maybe, just maybe, Turkey’s aggressive Syrian stance was based on the existence of Gen. Flynn as National Security Advisor, where Flynn was also a designated lobbyist for the Turkish Government to the tune of $500,000.

It’s clear Turkey has to come to grips with the reality that the United States is not going to betray the Kurds.  McCain would be wiser to counsel Turkey to get with the program rather than attack President Trump on Syria.  Sen. McCain should be threatening Turkey to be part of the solution, rather than the problem.  Sen. McCain should understand that these are first moves of what is a thoroughly thought out plan to defeat ISIS, defeat the Iranians, delimit Russia to Western Syria, and stabilize Syria all at the same time.

And as candidate Trump has admonished, President Trump is not going to publicly announce his strategy.  Trump is going to execute it, and destroy ISIS, and Iran first, and then talk about it later.  So, you’re not going to see me remotely explain what Sec Def Mattis is doing.  All I’ll say is I believe SecDef Mattis is unfolding a brilliantly planned strategy.

Iran should retreat from Syria fast before it is militarily embarrassed and annihilated.  Iran is catastrophically over-extended, and has burned through over 100 Billion dollars betting Obama could deliver Syria and the entire Levant to them.

Reality check/real news flash for Iran: Trump ain’t Obama.   Iran’s imperial neo-Safavidic plan has failed.  Iran had better fold up its tent, and quick, or Iran will get folded up, and buried deep by Sec Def Mattis and President Trump.

Turkey: Fight the Persians, ally with the Kurds

The Syrian Kurds can connect to the Kurds of Northern Iraq.

Published on March 2, 2017 by Mark

Nearly 8 years ago, just when Turkey was about to invade Iraq and kill the Iraqi Kurds, I sent a letter to then-PM Erdogan, now President Erdogan, warning him the Iraqi Kurds were Turkey’s ally and the Persian Iranians were Turkey’s enemy.  Today, Turkey is threatening to close its southern NATO-base, Incirlik to US military flights that support the Kurds and its Syrian militias are about to attack Kurdish forces to their east.  But, from 8 years ago to today, it is even more urgent for Turkey to ally with the Kurds to fight the Persians.

The text of my letter to then-PM Erdogan dated June 4, 2007, ran as follows:

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

Embassy of the Republic of Turkey

2525 Massachusetts Ave. NW

Washington, DC 20008

Re:  Turkey’s Security

For the security of Turkey, I beg you not to attack or invade Northern Kurdish Iraq.

Ask yourself one question: Would Turkey rather have the Peshmerga as a suicidal enemy against a Turkish invasion to the south, or have the Peshmerga as a suicidal ally against a future Iranian invasion from the South.

The Kurds are your indispensable, reliable, and sole indigenous ally in your present and future strategic battle against Iran.  By accommodating the Kurds, Turkey will gain, at almost no cost, the entire northern Iraq as its forward deployed defense line against the Iranian northern encroachment that is undoubtedly on its way.  By fighting the Kurds, Turkey will not only lose a tactical tripwire to an Iranian push, but also lose the Kurds as a strategic battle-hardened military backbone which be first to absorb Iranian advances.

In fact, by not attacking Northern Iraq and building a Kurdish alliance instead, Turkey will, without a shot, project a strategic threat against Iran: namely, Iran’s 5 million Kurds.  By treating the Kurds as allies, Turkey will put the entire Iranian Kurdish population in play, to Iran’s detriment,.

The strategic calculus is so compelling; I believe it is absolutely vital that Turkey carefully triple-check and completely re-analyze its military intelligence of the recent terrorist attacks.  The Iranians, Syrians, or even al-Qaeda may have committed the attacks so as to falsely create a strategic wedge between Turkey and the Kurds and Turkey and the US, and provoke the very reaction Turkey is committing.

Don’t allow the Iranians to bait you into a losing tactical game of checkers against the Kurds, when you have a winning strategic game of chess against the Iranians.

Don’t look at the Kurds as Turkey’s past enemy, but as Turkey’s future ally.  Treat both Turkish and Iraqi Kurds as brothers in battle.  Very soon, Turkish and Kurdish soldiers will be dying side-by-side against the waxing Iranian Mahdish menace.

I have enclosed my article Iran: The Fourth Reichastan 2.2 for your review.  I have also enclosed a 1993 Jerusalem Post article about me.  If you want to see a small part of my presentation with an old version of my 3-D topographic map, go here “Mark Langfan Shalom America.”

Thank you for your consideration.

Very truly yours,

Mark Langfan

Comment:

The letter above, for some reason, was leaked, by someone close to PM Erdogan, to the Turkish press and a Mr. Burak Bekdil, a Turkish journalist with Hurriyet Daily News, wrote about my 2007 letter.

1. First, if there weren’t the Iraqi Kurds, Pres. Erdogan would have had to invent them.  The Iraqi Kurds are protecting Turkey’s entire south-eastern front from the Persians.  Yes, they represent some future threat to Turkey.  However, the issue is not a future problem with Turkey’s Kurds, but the immediate existential threat of Persian contiguous empire from Iran, through Iraq, and Syria, to Lebanon.  The key is Turkey – it controls the oil flow from the Iraqi Kurds and is where the Kurds get hard cash.  Any oil sent through the Iraqi Government means the Kurds will see pennies on the dollar for their oil.  So, Turkey shouldn’t worry about the Kurds of Iraq, or the Kurds of Syria.

2. Second, Turkey has a tough slog in Syria against the Islamic State and the Iranian-backed Syrian Puppet Government.  The last thing Turkey needs is to waste its order of battle against the Syrian Kurds.  It would only enrage the Kurds living in Turkey.  Leave the Kurds alone and deal with the one true threat: The Persians.

Eight years of events have proven my advice of 2007 was sound and in the best interests of Turkey.  Please accept my current advice. I believe it will prove just as accurate and just as proper for Turkey.
